Boots, Andy, Cats creator Luke “Skippy” Harbur was nine years old when his older cousin Chris taught him beatboxing, the art of making drum sounds with your mouth. “Boots,” “And,” “Cats,” are the fundamental spoken words to create the bass, cymbal, and snare drum featured in the art form. After 20 years of practice and performance experience, Harbur toured across Missouri state with an all ages show called “Skippy The Drum Machine,” teaching the same fundamental sounds, patterns, and music education pillars he learned as a child. Combining his professional background in performance, production, and education experience created the musical and book for Boots, Andy, Cats. Through these mediums, interdisciplinary arts shine through three characters showcasing art forms of singing, dancing, and beatboxing.
